Our History

PaperCut Software is the company behind "PaperCut NG" and "PaperCut ChargeBack" printer and internet resource management applications. PaperCut Software was originally formed in 1998 as OSCURA and incorporated as PaperCut Software in 2004. PaperCut Software delivered its first print quota application for schools and universities in 1999, and entered the enterprise market with PaperCut ChargeBack in 2001. PaperCut Software's application now manages printing and internet use in thousands of organizations in more than 60 countries.

Today PaperCut Software remains a small software development company driven and managed by the founding developers. All employees have a passion for technology and enjoy delivering software technology direct to the customers without a barrier formed by resellers, a sales channel or marketing team. PaperCut Software believes that close contact with customers is the best way to turn their ideas into applications.

Chris has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mech) and Bachelor of Science (Physics) from Monash University, Australia. He started his career in the oil and gas industry as a graduate Engineer at ExxonMobil, later moving into a software development role at KE Software. Chris dreamed up the idea for PaperCut Software first print quota application in 1997 whilst completing his studies. During the boom years of personal computing Rick worked for several technology leaders including Novell, NEC, 3Com, and Nortel to develop customer support and sustaining engineering teams. His most recent role was establishing the technical support department for a Swiss classroom management software company.

Rick will work closely with customers and developers to assure that PaperCut remains the leading cross-platform print management software.

John
Sales Support

John has a degree in Applied Science and a Diploma of Education. He first started working with computers in the 60's programming in ALGOL on paper tape. During a career in teaching John was involved with the integration of computers into the curriculum and finished his teaching as IT Manager/coordinator of a medium sized high school overseeing the development of a 200 workstation secure internet enabled network. It was in this final phase that John saw the need for a PaperCut style program ( the piles of waste around the printers were just too annoying!). Research of possible solutions revealed programs that were too labor intensive or too expensive - a local solution was needed and Chris was on hand and had the skills to deliver a tailored product.

John now works part time for PaperCut in Sales and occasional support, as well as running his own computer support consultancy. He brings to the business many years of experience in education and an in depth knowledge of school curriculum, operations and administration.

Christine
Office Manager and Sales Assistant

Christine manages our sales processes and brings to the business a variety of skills and experiences. From a start teaching in primary schools, Christine has run her own retail business, managed the clerical side of a busy hospital emergency department and concurrently been a mother and homemaker.

With her varied background, she brings an attention to detail and a genuine desire to meet customer needs. She is usually the first point of contact for the business and enjoys the human side of communication. As a "night" person Christine is also often on email to assist our Europe and US customers with orders and sales help.

Many years using computers at home and her employment has (almost) turned her into a "techie" but her real strengths are at the human interface. Christine continues to work part-time in health as well as on her many hobbies and at PaperCut Software.
